A CHAMPION: Coaching at its finest…after just four seasons at LSU, Nick has accumulated 39 wins. Among those 39 victories are three Bowl wins, two SEC Championships, and a National Championship. This most recent season, Nick was the recipient of the FWAA / Eddie Robinson Coach Of The Year, the AP Coach Of The Year, and the Bear Bryant Coach Of The Year. A MOTIVATOR: In ten seasons as a head football coach, Nick has enjoyed eight winning seasons and he has never suffered a losing season. He has led three different programs to winning seasons, and he did so in his first year at each. None of the three programs had winning seasons the year prior to his arrival. In fact, a trademark of Saban-coached teams has been their ability to overcome adversity and still effectively perform on the field. On top of Nick’s success on the gridiron, his players are recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Nick has high regards for education, and it is his philosophy that a student athlete should leave his program with all the tools he needs to succeed in life. Off the field, Saban encourages his players are active in the community and they respond by promoting goodwill and participating in such things as community service projects and visiting hospitals and schools in the Baton Rouge area on a regular basis. KNOWS WHAT IT TAKES: “He’s a first-rate person and he’s a marvelous football coach,” said Bill Polian, the president of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts who is considered one of the premier minds in professional football. “He brings all the right values to the position and to the job.” “No-nonsense” is one description of his style of coaching, but consistent and exacting might be more precise. “Hard work” can be attached to any successful program, but also working smart is a trademark of Saban coached teams. The keys to Saban’s success are founded on aggressive and disciplined leadership and a philosophy of personal responsibility both on the football field and in the classroom. “Basically, if anybody doesn’t want to work hard or be committed to the way he’s committed, then they’re going to have a problem with him,” said Belichick, coach of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. “Now, if they like to work, they won’t have any problems at all.” Saban is a communicator who gets the best out of his players; he is a coach who can guarantee that a player willing to dedicate himself to the program will maximize his talents. Nick Saban, head coach of the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins for the past two seasons, has been named the 27th head football coach of The University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Saban has compiled a record of 106-59-1 (.642) in 13 seasons as a head coach, having also led programs at Louisiana State (LSU), Michigan State and Toledo. |
