Malcolm’s playing career began a Longview High School in Longview, Texas. He as a three-time all-district first team selection and was also named first team all-state in 2003 and 2004. After graduating from Longview High School he signed with The University of Oklahoma where he lead the Sooners in receptions and receiving yards during his freshman campaign. As a result, Malcolm was named honorable mention Freshman All American and was also named to the Freshman All-Big 12 Team. Malcolm finished his freshman year fourth all time at Oklahoma in receiving yards by a freshman, and fifth for receptions by a freshman. During his sophomore year, Malcolm became the fastest player in school history to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving and again led the Sooners in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches. At the conclusion of his sophomore year Malclm was again named second team All-Big 12. Malcolm’s junior year began with a bang, during the second game of the year Malcolm torched the vaunted University of Miami secondary for 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a 51-13 Oklahoma win. He continued his stellar play throughout his junior season and declared for the NFL Draft at the end of the year, having accounted for 821 yards on 49 catches and ten touchdowns. He finished his career at Oklahoma as one of the most prolific receivers in the program’s storied history. Malcolm was drafted in the second round (51st overall) in 2008 by the Washington Redskins and has been slowed by injuries at times, though he has shown promise during his playing time with 28 catches for 365 yards. |
