Bucky Richardson

Bucky Richardson was born on February 7, 1969, in Baton Rouge, LA and graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1987 where he was an All-Sate performer in football and baseball. Bucky decided he wanted to further his education at Texas A&M University where he signed a football scholarship. His first appearance for the Aggies as a freshman came against Southern Mississippi where future NFL great Brett Favre was the QB. Bucky led the Aggies to a victory and scored his first collegiate TD with a 82-yard TD run. Later that season, he scored the winning TD against rival Texas to earn a SWC Championship and a berth in the Cotton Bowl again Notre Dame. The Aggies defeated Tim Brown and the Irish 35-10, and Richardson was named Offensive MVP.

As a Junior, Bucky led the Aggies to a 8-3-1 record and a berth in the Holiday Bowl against Brigham Young and Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer. Bucky accounted for 4 TD’s (2 run, 1 pass, 1 receiving) on the night and the Aggies won 65-14 in one of the biggest margins of victory in bowl history. Bucky was named the game's Offensive MVP.

In 1991, Bucky and the Aggies won the SWC Championship to earn a berth in the Cotton Bowl against Florida St. A&M finished the season ranked 10th and finished with a 10-2 record. Bucky was named Southwest Conference Player of the Year and finished as the All-Time Leading Rushing QB in SWC History with 2,095 career yards. He finished 10th in the Heisman voting and was a finalist for the Davey O’Brien National QB Award.

Bucky was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1992. He played in Houston for three seasons where he ended up with six starts on his resume and was considered a fan favorite. He also had playing stints in New England, Dallas, and Kansas City. He decided to leave football behind and start his business career in 1996.

Bucky currently resides in Missouri City, Texas with his wife Tracey and their three children, Jordan (15), John Paul (8), and Jenna (6). Bucky is a partner with Environmental Improvements, Inc., a manufacturers' representative in the municipal water and wastewater treatment industry in Texas and Oklahoma.
