Jay Barker

Jay Barker Jay Barker knows the importance of leadership and teamwork. Jay is the last Alabama quarterback to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a National Championship and an undefeated season (1992). Jay was not only a winner on the field, but he is a College legend when it comes to his integrity and leadership off the field.

Jay Barker is married to country music singer Sara evans.

During Jay’s career at Alabama he became the FCA chapter’s shining leader and example during the years of 1990-95. Jay was a role model who captured the campus and the State of Alabama with his stand against alcohol and drugs and stand for abstinence. As a starting quarterback, he compiled a record of 35-2-1, won All-American honors and the Johnny Unitas Award as the nation's most outstanding quarterback his senior year. FCA Advisor Wayne Atcheson wrote a book on Jay's life entitled In Due Time which was published by The Birmingham News with 62,000 copies in print. A strong leader, Jay led FCA teammates in a prayer session before each game in the shower room that has carried over since his departure in 1994.

Jay Barker finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy balloting that season. He finished his career as the winningest quarterback in Alabama history, compiling a 35-2-1 record as the Tide's starting quarterback. He earned All-America and consensus All-SEC honors his senior season. He was also the Birmingham News' Offensive Player of the Year in the SEC and was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, presented each year to the outstanding college quarterback.

Jay Barker speaks around the southeast to Churches, organization and corporations about the importance of leadership, winning, integrity and finishing strong. Let us know how Jay can help with your next event.

"I love the competitor. I love the guy who just goes out into the arena for the players to compete. There's just something about the competitor. There's something also about a role model. You youngsters are looking at a role model here in Jay (Barker). You just don't have any idea how many letters I get daily and weekly. Very few letters do I get that don't say something about Jay Barker. I was talking to somebody just the other day about how Jay has Unashamedly said that he was a virgin. You can't find many college Seniors that can say that. He's a guy that as a starte at the University of Alabama has won 34 games and only lost two. And yet nobody knows much about Jay Barker; for you see, he's a totally unselfish player. He's not in it for the credit. He's in because He loves to play and compete. I love Jay Barker. He knows that. I love what he stands for."
